Well, it's been a busy few days. Not content with saying I'd try to create a 3D image of a cartoon character for someone who signed my guestbook, I've also joined the GNOME Documentation Project (GDP), and spent hours trying to work out how CVS works. In the end I had to ask for help on the GDP IRC channel, to whom I'm thankful - it's now working; although none of us can fathom why the instructions in their handbook didn't work for me. Anyway, now that I've got CVS working and downloaded everything I need, I'll be writing the documentation for PAN; my newsreader of choice. It doesn't have any documentation already, which is an advantage (no previous stuff to compare mine with!), but it's also a disadvantage (I have to write the whole thing from scratch, barring the GDP templates for things, of course). Should be fun, though. And the 3D image is coming along nicely. It's of a dog from a children's story and the image I'm working from is pretty cool. Unfortunately, animals are damn hard to do properly, so it's taking a lot of time. Plus, it's white; which means getting the lighting right is hard - if it's not right, the whole thing looks plastic. Add to this the talk on Dark Matter which I have to give in tomorrow's tutorial session at university and my life is pretty full right now, which makes up for the three months of boredom I had during the summer! |
