I really should stop fiddling with my system once it's working nicely. Following my foray into SuSE 7.0 territory earlier this week I finally got around to getting my system set up as I like it again, having reinstalled GNOME 1.2 and the PAN newsreader. Strangely enough, the system is running faster than it did last time I installed Mandrake 7.1, so it can't be all that bad. Now there's just the small matter of wading through all the newsgroup posts I've missed since I messed with my setup. Sadly the version of PAN I have installed doesn't allow searching by date, so I'll just get 'Mark Read' (middle name 'All') to sift through them for me and I'll start reading from any new posts that arrive after that. I'll miss a few posts, of course, but that's the price I'll have to pay for being a lazy git. I've added a new film review today: The Phantom. I'll not go into details for fear of spoiling the review, but there's a link here and in the film reviews section too, should you want to see my opinion on it. More reviews to come, but my time is getting more and more limited as I'm spending more and more time reading my physics notes and getting everything sorted in time for university starting again next month. |
